WWE star criticizes ‘absurd’ backlash directed at Giants rookie

Giants’ Rookie Cam Skatebo Sparks Controversy at WWE Event

New York Giants rookie Cam Skatebo found himself at the center of attention during a recent episode of Monday Night Raw, which he attended despite being injured. His involvement with WWE star CM Punk has drawn mixed reactions from fans.

In a candid interview on the “Barstool Yak,” Punk, a well-known Chicago sports aficionado, addressed the backlash from disgruntled Giants supporters. “Life isn’t fair, but I think they’re just stupid Giants fans,” he commented. “Do they really want to push him further away?”

Punk expressed his bewilderment over the situation, stating, “Celebrities and sports figures have always mingled with wrestling. I can’t grasp what the fans are upset about. The guy played for your team and ended up injured. Why are you blaming him?”

Skatebo, who suffered a major ankle injury, was sitting ringside with Giants teammates during the event. Despite the spirited atmosphere, no significant incidents occurred between NFL players and members of WWE’s Judgment Day.

Punk further remarked, “If he had risked further injury doing something reckless, I’d get it. But he didn’t.” This perspective was echoed by Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka, who indicated he was not worried about Skatebo’s safety. “I knew they would be at the event. It was a unique opportunity for the rookies, a chance for them to bond and engage with the community,” Kafka remarked.

As for Skatebo, Kafka felt it was positive for him to be involved in such events, mentioning, “You can really feel his energy, even through a screen.” It’s interesting how sports figures can blend their worlds, isn’t it?
