Naomi Announces Pregnancy, Steps Away from WWE

Naomi has revealed that she is expecting a child, leading her to withdraw from the Women’s World Championships in WWE.

The 37-year-old wrestler announced her pregnancy during an episode of “Monday Night Raw” on Netflix, which came after swirling rumors about her and her husband Jimmy Woo starting a family.

This baby will be the couple’s first child, and they have been married since 2014. WWE has not yet clarified how a new champion will be determined.

Naomi’s pregnancy arrives at a time when she was really finding her footing in WWE again, especially since her return at the Royal Rumble in 2024. Alongside Mercedes Mohn, previously known as Sasha Banks, she had been making waves during RAW in May 2022.

After being revealed as an attacker of Jade Cargill in the Elimination Chamber back in March, Naomi embraced a new persona marked by caution. She achieved a significant victory in June, winning the Women’s Money in the Bank match, and later captured a World Championship contract in a match with Lea Ripley at the All-Women’s Evolution event on July 13.

During her impressive 35-day title reign, she defended her championship, notably defeating Sky and Ripley in a triple threat matchup at Summer Slam.

In a podcast episode of Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Story,” Naomi shared her feelings about the current WWE landscape. She noted that it feels like a positive time for women to have families. “I always felt like I had this pressure on myself, but now it’s clear that women can choose to pause for motherhood,” she said. “It’s not easy, yet so many are inspiring others — it’s incredibly commendable.”

Naomi will have the opportunity to return to her career whenever she feels ready.
