‘WWHL’: Anderson Cooper Never Knows Who Andy Cohen “Is Gonna Insult” On New Year’s Eve

Andy Cohen gears up to host his annual New Year's Eve CNN broadcast from Times Square and is ready to let loose with Anderson Cooper — but if Cohen goes a little too far with the tequila… Is Cooper ready to take on another year of damage control?

In Monday night's (December 16) episode, Watch what happens live Cooper revealed the “most frustrating thing” about working with Cohen on New Year's Eve.

“Who the hell are you trying to insult and what about cleaning aisle three in the morning,” Cooper admitted.

The BFF duo have hosted CNN's New Year's Eve show since 2017, when Cohen replaced Kathy Griffin. Their typical (yet iconic) antics include on-air tequila shots, which got them in trouble after Cohen's departure a few years ago. He launched a fierce attack on then-outgoing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and criticized his ABC mayor, Ryan Seacrest.

As 2022 rings in, Cohen celebrated the fact that New York City will have a new mayor. “Watching Mayor de Blasio do his 'victory lap' dance after four bad years as mayor of New York City. The only thing Democrats and Republicans can agree on is what a terrible mayor he was. Goodbye, it sucks,” he said.

Cohen also criticized Seacrest and his team for hosting ABC's annual New Year's Eve special, saying, “If you look behind me, I see Ryan Seacrest's group of losers performing.'' If you're watching ABC, you're not watching anything.

The next day, Cohen announced that heA little excessive service” and he later recanted his comments about Seacrest on his SiriusXM show. Andy Cohen live.

Cohen's outburst prompted CNN to ban its on-air talent from drinking alcohol the following year. But after much pleading, Cohen and Cooper were allowed to drink alcohol during the 2023 broadcast. And it looks like the tradition will continue this year.

“Anderson and I are going to ring in the New Year with tequila shots this year…I'm offering it,” Cohen said. See what happens live. “If you think about it, I literally bring my own tequila all the time.”

Watch what happens live It airs Sundays through Thursdays at 10pm ET on Bravo. New episodes will be available to stream on Peacock the next day.
