Wyndham Clark Suspended from Oakmont

Wyndham Clark has reportedly been suspended from Oakmont.

If you’ve been out of the loop, rumors are swirling that Clark caused damage in the locker room. A photo capturing the aftermath has emerged.

Clark missed the cut at Oakmont, shooting a 74 in each of the first two rounds. As a former US Open champion, he has a 10-year exemption, but it could be put to the test since Oakmont is set to host the tournament again in 2033, which also happens to be the last year of his exemption.

It’s still unclear whether he will participate in the US Open. Reports surfaced Wednesday before the Open Championship, noting that he was barred from Oakmont. According to a letter shared with Golf Digest, if he adheres to certain guidelines, there’s a chance he could make a return.

“We’ve sought clarification on the circumstances surrounding Wyndham Clark and the actions taken in light of recent events. After several discussions between the USGA and the OCC Board, it’s been decided that Clark will no longer have access to OCC Properties.”

“This ruling will remain unless the board formally reassesses and approves a change.”

“For Clark to return, he’ll need to fulfill several specific conditions, including repaying the damages, making contributions to a charity chosen by the board, and successfully completing counseling or anger management sessions.”

“We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support.”

It’s not clear when this letter was issued, but it seems there hasn’t been any repayment for the damages from Clark, which adds a layer of complexity to this situation. Additionally, there was an incident at Quazul Hollow during the PGA Championship in which he threw his driver after an unsatisfactory tee shot, causing damage to T-Mobile signs—ironically, a sponsor of his. He later apologized, and the company issued a supportive statement.

This season has been challenging for Clark; he has only three top-15 finishes, including a T11 at the Genesis Scottish Open last week, which may indicate a glimmer of hope for his chances at Royal Portrush.

As of now, Clark hasn’t made any public comments regarding these issues.
