Wyoming councilman Troy Bray urged for the removal of poor judges following the abortion decision

A city council member in Wyoming is under fire after making a controversial comment about judges in light of a recent court ruling on abortion. Troy Bray’s remark, which suggested that “bad judges must be hanged,” followed a decision by a Natrona County judge preventing the enforcement of the state’s six-week abortion ban, allowing abortions to continue amid ongoing legal disputes.

Democratic state Representative Mike Yin shared a post on Facebook from Wyoming Public Radio about this ruling. In his comments, he advocated for constitutional rights regarding health care choices and the need for political change through voting.

Bray’s comment, made in response to the ruling, sparked considerable backlash. Many users labeled his words as unsafe and inappropriate for someone in a public office.

After facing significant criticism, Bray responded in a lengthy Facebook post, clarifying that his comments were merely a reflection of his beliefs, not a threat. He emphasized that he did not intend to incite violence or call anyone to action.

He also expressed his desire for a peaceful solution but mentioned that he aimed to tackle systemic issues “by any means necessary,” a phrase he recognized could draw further criticism. Bray assured that he would utilize all peaceful options available to him.

In his comments, he criticized the Wyoming judicial system as being “broken,” claiming that judges often exceed their authority and that courthouses frequently fail to deliver true justice.

Bray elaborated in another post about how the legal system can be burdensome for average individuals. He pointed out that lawyers sometimes engage in frivolous lawsuits aimed at exploiting the system. He lamented that individuals representing themselves often struggle to have their voices heard in court and that those unable to cover court fees may find themselves without justice.

As the legal fight over Wyoming’s abortion law unfolds, Bray remains one of several local officials voicing their opinions on the matter, drawing strong reactions from both sides of the abortion debate.

Efforts to reach Bray for further commentary did not yield an immediate response.
