X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, plans to start rolling out voice and video calling for free users.

The company has launched audio and video features for paying subscribers using iOS. It offered subscribers the option to call others through the app. Android users also received this feature earlier this year. Engadget reported.
“While you are still required to subscribe to X Premium to make calls when you press the phone icon in DMs, those who get the update will now be able to make calls even if they are not a paid subscriber. ” the technology outlet reported.
X engineer Enrique Barragan announced the new feature in a post on Friday.
