Xander Schauffele shares he doesn't keep any trophies and is uncertain about the location of his Olympic gold medal

Xander Schauffele: The Golfer with an Empty Trophy Case at Home

Xander Schauffele has rapidly become one of the standout golfers globally. Yet, if someone took a stroll through his home, they might not even notice. It’s a bit surprising, really.

With nine PGA Tour victories under his belt, including the PGA and Open Championships last year, Schauffele has quite an impressive resume. He also clinched the Tour Championship back in 2017 and has three Presidents Cups and a Ryder Cup win to his name. And let’s not forget the Olympic gold medal he earned in Tokyo back in 2021. Still, despite all this success, you wouldn’t find any of these accolades displayed at home.

Recently, Schauffele shared that his parents keep all of his trophies stored away “in the vault at some bank.” Oddly enough, this doesn’t include the gold medal, the whereabouts of which seem to be a bit of a mystery.

“Honestly, I’m not sure where it is,” Schauffele admitted. I mean, it’s kind of funny, right? He went on to explain how he doesn’t really invite guests over, so why put the trophies out? “What am I supposed to do with that?” he questioned. “It’s not like I’m going to be looking at it myself.”

That makes you wonder about his Florida home: what does it truly showcase, if not his achievements? In a humorous twist, Schauffele mentioned how his wife conditioned him to think that displaying a trophy is a bit over the top. “My wife even put up a picture of her Olympic medal at the gym we train at” he said, “but now I have to climb a ladder to see it. It’s a bit of a hassle, really.”

What’s clear is that Schauffele has a unique view on fame and recognition. He’ll be teeing off soon, scheduled to play at 4:58 AM on Thursday alongside fellow pros JJ Spaun and Jon Rahm, but trophies aren’t really what drives him, are they?
