Xavier Gipson is gearing up to join I-95.
After being released by both the Jets and Giants within a span of ten days, Gipson signed with the Super Bowl Champion Eagles, a decision announced by the team on Monday.
This marks Gipson’s third team this season, following his time with the Jets and the Steelers.
The Eagles made this move shortly after experiencing kickoff difficulties during their recent win against the Rams.
In addition, the team faced a setback when wide receiver Darius Cooper injured his shoulder during the game.
Gipson spent his first two seasons with the Jets after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2023.
During his 35 games with the Jets, he returned 68 punts and 44 kickoffs, averaging 8.9 yards on punt returns and 26.0 on kickoff returns.
As a receiver, he recorded 27 receptions and a touchdown, accumulating 268 yards.
The Jets faced a disappointing 34-32 loss at MetLife Stadium, with the Steelers overcoming a deficit to win the game.
Head coach Aaron Glenn was candid about the game’s impact.
“One thing for me, who has changed this game is that, guys, we can’t have sales,” Glenn commented to reporters. “We need to be a more disciplined team. There were penalties that occurred during the game, indicating a real discipline issue. If we lose because of mistakes like these, well, you won’t be on the field with us.”
Gipson was released the following day.
