XRP Falls Below Important Support Level as Ripple Investors Continue Selling
  • Recent insights from crypto analyst Ali Martinez reveal that Ripple whales are continuing to offload some of their holdings.
  • This trend is somewhat anticipated, but it seems to be driving the price of native tokens down to $3 for the first time in four days.

Whales are back to selling

Last week, a Ripple whale made headlines by selling a significant amount of assets, offloading 40 million XRP within a single day. At that time, this amounted to over $120 million in cryptocurrency.

Interestingly, despite this sell-off, the price of XRP held strong, maintaining support above $3. In fact, it even rose in the following days, reaching a peak of $3.19 on Saturday morning, which marked its highest price in a month.

The whales appear to have capitalized on this price surge to further secure their profits. According to further data shared by Martinez, these large-scale participants have sold off 160 million XRP in just the last two weeks, which is close to $500 million in USD terms.

XRP feels the effects

Initially, XRP prices remained relatively stable, but recent pressure from sales and a broader market trend have led to declines. Today, Ripple’s payment token dropped to $3, struggling to maintain that support. Since Saturday’s high, it has decreased by about 3.5%, and over 6.5% in a single day.

This downward shift may be linked to recent developments regarding SEC-Ripple ETF attempts for those interested in launching XRP ETFs.

Furthermore, this situation contrasts with prior expectations. Many analysts had confidently pointed out that XRP’s rise beyond $3 and $3.05 set the stage for a potential challenge of its all-time high of $3.65 from July 2025.

However, the crypto landscape is notorious for often deviating from anticipated trajectories, and this prompted an unexpected drop today.
