Yankee Stadium to stop playing Frank Sinatra’s ‘New York, New York’ after losses this season

TAMPA – The Yankees no longer spread the news after their losses in the Bronx.

Breaking through another long-standing tradition, the club will stop playing Frank Sinatra's “New York, New York themes from New York” after being defeated at Yankee Stadium, which it confirmed on Sunday.

The national anthem was previously played after both victory and loss finals, but now the song rotation plays after losing effort.

After a 4-0 loss to the Tigers at George M. Stein Brenner Field on Sunday, Sinatra's “It's Life” was played on the sound system, with fans applying for an exit.

According to the New York Times, the tradition of performing “New York, New York themes” began in 1980.

Last Friday, the Yankees changed courses of even older traditions when Hal Steinbrenner announced that the organization was relaxing facial hair policies established in 1976.
