Yankees’ Judge Shines in High-Scoring Victory
The New York Yankees faced off against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, securing a dominant 10-2 victory, largely thanks to Aaron Judge. The Yankees star showcased his power by hitting the longest home run of his season during the game.
In the first inning, Judge faced Royals pitcher Noah Cameron. With a 2-0 count, Cameron threw a fastball clocked at 94 mph, and Judge, well, he absolutely crushed it.
The ball traveled at an impressive 117.9 mph, soaring 469 feet before landing on the Royals Hall of Fame in left field. This marked Judge’s 24th home run of the season, placing it among the top three longest homers in Major League Baseball this year.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone expressed his excitement about Judge’s impressive hit. After the game, he smiled as he recounted his experience watching the ball fly. “I jumped up and tried to get a good place to really see,” he said. “I mean, I was calm and in a good position. It just evaporated.”
Judge himself acknowledged the significance of his early contribution to the scoreboard. “I’m just happy to get the two runs,” he mentioned, reflecting on the moment. “There’s no time to soak it in. You celebrate briefly, but then it’s on to the next thing.”
As for his season performance, Judge continues to impress, holding a .396 batting average along with his 24 home runs and 58 RBIs. He’s right in the thick of the discussions for the American League MVP again this year.
Interestingly, even though Judge is putting up impressive numbers, Boone noted that he’s still waiting for him to really “catch fire” at the plate. “If he keeps this up, I wouldn’t be surprised,” he acknowledged, adding how strange it is that Judge doesn’t seem to feel as if he’s at his peak yet. “He’s playing in another league,” Boone said, grinning.
On the pitching side, Yankees starter Max Fried showed his skills, throwing seven innings while allowing just two runs. Catcher Austin Wells significantly contributed with five RBIs during the game.
With the Yankees now at 40 wins and 25 losses, and the Royals standing at 34 wins and 33 losses, the teams are set to face each other again in the second game of their three-game series on Wednesday at 7:40 PM ET.
