Yankees and Mets forecast: Subway Series choices and odds for Saturday

Subway Series: Yankees vs. Mets in Game Two

The Subway Series continues Saturday as the Yankees take on the Mets for the second game of this crosstown rivalry.

Having won Friday’s matchup 5-2, thanks to a strong performance from starter Cam Schlitter, the Yankees now look ahead. The Mets, for their part, will counter with Carlos Rodon, who is set to pitch for the second time this season.

Rodon, a seasoned left-hander, is looking to bounce back after a shaky debut. He’ll face a Mets lineup that seems to have come alive lately.

In his first game of the 2026 season against the Brewers, Rodon struggled significantly. He ended up with a tight loss, 4-3 in a walk-off. His season debut wasn’t much better, giving up three earned runs over 4 1/3 innings.

Although Rodon remains in the rotation, he will need to sharpen his command against patient hitters like Juan Soto if he wants to succeed on Saturday.

In his recent outing, Rodon had issues with control, walking five batters in a short appearance. He found the strike zone with only 41% of his pitches, marking the lowest rate for him since April 2025.

Especially concerning was his fastball—it was particularly wild, hitting the strike zone just 38.6% of the time, which is not typical for a pitcher with his pedigree. Rodon seems to be still working to find the consistency that made him one of the Yankees’ top pitchers last season.

Until he demonstrates he can win consistently against hitters, he faces a tough challenge against a Mets lineup that will likely try to make him work hard.

Looks like a good play might be taking Rodon for over 1.5 walks.
