The Yankees began the season with six wins in eight games, then set an offensive record.
But they entered another tragic, cold, wet afternoon in the Bronx to four of the five Saturday losers, losing away from a rag-burning spin, a slump crime and another defeat falling to .500.
However, a strong start from Will Warren and five innings will help them win the Giants 8-4, with the Yankees aiming to win the series on Sunday at the stadium.
They had to survive another horror from the closer Devin Williams, who allowed the ninth pair of baserunners before retiring from the Giants' minds of order.
Starting with news that yet another starter, Marcus Stroman, had headed for the IL in a knee inflammation and an already taxed bullpen, Warren has gone through five innings and given up on two runs courtesy of a second explosion from former Met Wilmer Flores.
And the Yankees offense scored a pair of runs at the bottom of the first, adding five more in the fifth.
Judge Aaron made his first offense with a single-up middle single with one out.
Following Cody Bellinger there was a triple of the opposite field from the wall on the left field, winning a judge on the first run of the game.
Hot Hit Paul Goldschmidt added another run with a sacrifice fly to get Bellinger and make it 2-0.
The lead didn't last long as the Giants answered second. After Lamonte Wade Jr. lined up, Flores hit one in the center of the right. Two-run Homer, Flores' sixth season tied the game 2-2.
The Yankees loaded the bass with two outs for the judge at the bottom of the inning thanks to Austin Wells and Oswald Cabrera singles and Ben Rice's walks.
However, the judge is rooted to end the threat in 30 pitches and continue to tie the game together.
One-base pair play by Goldschmidt helped Warren get past the easy fourth as he retired 11 of the last 12 batters he faced following Flores' Homer before leaving after five innings and 91 pitches.
The Yankees controlled in fifth place in the fifth as the first five batters reached base and scored against Jordan Hicks.
Rice smoked a leadoff single in the center to start the inning, hit a 112 mph rocket and hit the left for another single.
Bellinger's base hit in the middle right hand side scored Rice, bringing the Yankees to 3-2, doubleping Goldschmidt's ground rule to the right.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. finished Hicks' day with a hitless hit in his previous 20 at-bats.
With the infield opposed right-handed Randy Rodriguez, Anthony Volpe drove the ball into a warning track in the center right for a sacrifice fly.
Austin Wells turned his eye before Jackson Dominguez finished his 0-15 straight win with a two-run single.
Fernando Cruz replaced Warren, starting at No. 6 and gave up a single to Willie Adams. John Who Lee was grounded in the second, but Chisholm's throw error appeared in the second.
Cruz managed to get the next two batters, but Flores brought the Giants back into the game with a two-run single, pushing Luke Weaver into the game.
Weaver let Samhuff swing to finish the inning.
Rice's fourth home run of the season was his sixth from former Yankee Illinois regular Lurivino, giving the Yankees more insurance.
Weaver finished seventh with Fanning Chapman leading the runners with four runs in the second and third.
Mark Reiter Jr. pitched a scoreless eight and Williams finished in the ninth after a rough outing in Detroit.
