Yankees bring Aaron Judge back from the injured list during a losing streak

Yankees Activate Aaron Judge from Injured List

The New York Yankees announced on Tuesday that they have activated superstar right fielder Aaron Judge from the injured list. This comes at a critical time for the team, as they’ve dropped four consecutive games and are struggling in the standings. They’re hoping that Judge’s return might provide the spark they desperately need.

The 33-year-old had been sidelined since July 27, due to a right elbow flexor strain, which was, fortunately, not a UCL tear. This meant he spent the shortest amount of time possible on the injured list, which is good news for the Yankees.

Before the injury, Judge was having an impressive season, hitting .342 with 37 home runs and 85 RBIs over 103 games. However, while he’s activated, he hasn’t resumed throwing yet, so he will step back into the lineup as the designated hitter. Interestingly, Giancarlo Stanton has been filling that role lately.

Stanton, now 35, has bounced back well since returning to play on June 16. In the 36 games since his comeback, he has posted a .270 batting average with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs. But with Judge’s return, questions arise over Stanton’s fielding position. He hasn’t played in the outfield since September 14, 2023, and at this stage in his career, he’s not the fastest player on the field.

The Yankees have had a rough patch since late May, going 25-33, which has dropped them to third place in the American League East division. Currently, they sit in the second wildcard spot.

Looking ahead, the Yankees (60-53) will face the Texas Rangers (59-55) on Tuesday at 8:05 PM. It’ll be interesting to see if Judge’s return can help turn things around for the team.
