Yankees bring back Adam Ottavino on major league deal

The Yankees took home the familiar face on Tuesday, signing Adam Otavino to a major league contract and adding him to the active roster in time for the Bronx series opener with Arizona.

This move involves Devin Williams being on the paternity list.

To create space for Otavino with a 40-person roster, JT Brubaker was transported to IL for 60 days.

Otavino recently spent time with the Red Sox after signing a minor league contract in February, but was released on March 23 after triggering an opt-out clause.

The 39-year-old Otavino spent the past three seasons with the Mets, playing at least 60 games each year.

The New York City native was with the Yankees in 2019 and '20.

Without Williams in the bullpen, Luke Weaver is thinking to take over a closer role.
