For the first time since 1976, Yankees players are allowed to raise their beards.
Fans, experts and everyone else spent 49 years preparing for the announcement on Friday morning. They were not disappointed.

At a press conference in Tampa on Friday, Yankees President Hal Steinbrenner expanded the team's decision to change the policy enacted in 1976 by his late father George.
“We want to win, want us to be better, we don't want to be here to get the championship, and know that if he has the ability, he won't come here because of that policy. If so, that would be very concerning because it is important to that generation,” Steinbrenner said.
The Yankees said Friday that players will allow “a well-maintained whiskers to move forward.”

The team will hold the 2025 season at home against the Brewers on March 27th.
