TAMPA – Yankees Relief Outlook Eric Raiselman's first big league camp was caught when he was taken to hospital with an allergic reaction Wednesday.
Raiselman was in steady state Wednesday morning after the Yankees went through an episode before their first training with pitchers and catchers, a team spokesman said.
The 23-year-old was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was kept overnight for observation.
The Yankees said they plan to provide an update on right-handed people on Thursday.
A non-roster invitation, Raiselman spent the 2024 season mostly in Double A, scoring a 1.93 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 23¹/₃ innings.
Carlos Rodon, Scott Efros, Will Warren and J.T. Brubaker threw live batting practices against Yankees catchers Austin Wells, Ben Rice, Alex Jackson and Jesus Rodriguez on Wednesday afternoon.
Rodon threw what was equivalent to two innings, while Efros, Warren and Brubaker each threw one.
“I feel good [Rodón] Manager Aaron Boone said: “But it's only a year with us, people in the building, everyone, who he goes for something different. They all really have to be people over time. It's a small thing to help.”
Efros, who didn't appear three times late last season after returning from Tommy John and back surgery, could potentially become a Yankees Bullpen wild card if he could return to the pre-work pitcher .
“I think Effross looks really good,” Boone said. “It's like the next step away from surgery. … His pitch seems crisp, but this is encouraging. Clearly he plays a big role for us. Because we can. We know how good he is when we win him. We're excited about where he is.”
Rice is one of the catchers who are fighting for being a backup for Wells, but Boone plans to continue the action on a single base to maintain his versatility.
“I really believe in the bat, so I want to maintain the flexibility of him and that first base,” Boone said.
Former union manager and Juan Soto's teammate, Jerit Cole is a record 700 million yen for the superstar land this offseason, even if he's not with the Yankees. He was pleased to see the $65 million deal.
“That's big,” Cole said with a laugh. “It's a huge amount of money.
“But it's hard to underestimate a great player, and it's hard to underestimate Scott. [Boras]Also said Cole, a fellow client at Boras. “He does a good job on what he does. It's a lot. It's a historic contract. It's good for all players, it's good for the game.”
