Yankees fans who interfered with Mookie Betts in World Series banned from MLB stadiums indefinitely: report

The New York Yankees fan who grabbed Mookie Betts' wrist and pried the ball from his glove won't see his team or any other team for a long time after being briefly hailed as a hero. .

As a result of the incident, Austin Capobianco and John P. Hansen were reportedly banned indefinitely from all MLB stadiums.

In the bottom of the first inning of Game 4 of the World Series, with the Yankees leading by three games, Gleyber Torres hit a pop fly down the right-field line and into the stands. Betts jumped on the ball and caught it, but was clearly in the danger zone.

A Yankees fan in the front row ripped the glove from Betts' hand and tried to take the ball, and when the ball finally came out, another fan grabbed Betts' wrist.

Fans were ejected from the stadium, but were initially allowed to return the following night before the team reversed course and donated tickets to children with cancer and their families.

The Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder didn't talk much about his ordeal after Game 4, but he let it all out after Game 5.

“That was wild. It was really wild. I've never experienced anything like that. I told my wife it was like the second time in my life I wanted to fight someone,” Betts said. told FOX after the game. Capobianco defended his actions, saying he was trying to help the Yankees.
