TAMPA – The Yankees received crushing news from California. There, Gerrit Cole's right elbow found out that surgery would require, and he wanted better news from New York, where Giancarlo Stanton had his own appointment.
The Yankees DH received the third round PRP shot on Monday, coach Aaron Boone said the first two sets of injections didn't do enough to help the elbow.
The shot was not expected to be useful anytime soon, but it is hoped to speed up the healing process.
Boone said Stanton wasn't back in camp on Tuesday and didn't know when Slugger would be around the team again.
On Saturday, Stanton called the injury to both elbows “severe” and said he didn't know when he would be able to play the bat again or swing.
Stanton said that whenever he resumes baseball activities, he likely has to deal with the pain.
He didn't believe he would undergo surgery to knock him out for the season.
The Yankees could open a season with platoons at DH, with Ben Rice, J.C. Escarla and non-roster invitee Smith fighting for a batting with the right pitcher, and Everson Pereira can see left-handed time.
Defeating the Tigers 10-2 at Steinbrenner field, Yoendrys Gómez doubled the scoreless innings from the bullpen.
The correct outlook to have to build a team to avoid being exposed to exemptions as it is out of the minor league option is that it has not scored in five Grapefruit Tree Gunnings, allowing only two base runners.

“I feel great, I'm healthy and I'm working to build a team, and that's the goal,” Gomez said.
The 25-year-old has made six career appearances in the majors and has had a solid season as a starter for Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he held a 3.67 ERA.
Righty has been tested as a capable rescuer of length from the bullpen and has so far passed the test.
“I felt better [than last year]Gomez said. “I missed a lot of sliders from time to time last season. Now it's in the zone.”
Apparently he likes to hit the leadoff, Austin Wells smoked third and second homers in camp, and smoked the first Yankees batsman of the day.
Paul Goldschmidt delves into the second homer in the camp (a two-run shot from Kenta Maeda), while Trent Grisham added his first dinger.
After an impressive show, young infielder George Lombard Jr. was reassigned to minor league camp.
