Yankees’ Gleyber Torres exits game with apparent injury

The Yankees added Gleyber Torres to their injury concern list.

Torres left Friday’s game in the fourth inning with an apparent injury after taking an infield hit.

The second baseman, who has been playing through a groin injury in recent weeks, appeared to be in some discomfort after running around first base.

After a brief discussion with manager Aaron Boone and the trainer, pinch runner Oswaldo Cabrera was brought in to pitch.

Torres missed two games last week, with manager Aaron Boone feeling he needed a mental “reset” after struggling with his hitting for much of the season.

In the six games since then, he went 7-for-24 with one home run and four RBIs.

The Yankees have already lost Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring tightness) and Anthony Rizzo (broken arm) from the middle of their lineup in recent weeks.

Utility infielder Jon Bertie is also still several weeks away from returning from a calf injury, meaning he won’t be an option to fill in for Torres at second base if he is sidelined.
