Yankees honor late wife of exec Michael Tusiani after tragic death

It was an emotional day at Yankee Stadium on Friday as the Yankees honored Cathy Tusciani, the wife of the team’s senior vice president of partnerships, Michael Tusciani.

Before the game, Aaron Boone became emotional while talking about Kathy Tusiani, who was killed Wednesday in Armonk when her car was hit by a falling tree during a storm.

As Boone finished his pregame press conference, he spoke about Tusianis, but had to stop several times because he was so emotional that he choked up.

“Let me just say right off the bat, with the excitement of opening day, we are constantly reminded of that perspective,” Boone said. “At the end of the day, this is our livelihood and it’s really important, but it’s just a game. Our family, Yankee family… [have] My heart is heavy today. As you know, Michael Tusiani lost his wife Kathy. So we’re going to play for them today and all season.”

The Yankees also held a moment of silence for Cathy Tusiani before the game. Tusiani was a 50-year-old mother of two.
