Yankees’ Jose Trevino makes strong return after injury absences

After missing the second half of last year with a wrist injury and the first half of spring with a calf issue, Jose Trevino returned to the field and made an immediate impact with a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Left-hander Victor Gonzalez, acquired from the Dodgers in a December trade, has allowed at least one run in each of his three Grapefruit League games and was hit with a home run by Luke Williams on Sunday.

It caught my eye

Gleyber Torres often ran the bases recklessly, including during the spring. In the bottom of the third inning, he hit a grounder up the middle that hit the glove of shortstop Andrew Velasquez, resulting in a hustle double. He has also recorded three multi-hits in the past four games.

Monday schedule

The Yankees will have a split-team game against the Orioles at Steinbrenner Field with Will Warren on the mound at 1:05 p.m., a split-team game against the Phillies and Zach Wheeler in Clearwater, Fla., and a split-team game with Clayton Beater on the mound at 1:05 p.m. He will start at 1:05.
