The Yankees' opening day roster has been set, and for now, Oswald Peraza has made the cut.
Peraza and the non-roster invite Pablo Reyes secured the final two bench spots, with Yondris Gomez and Brent Headrick closing the bullpen as the Yankees secured a 26-man roster before the Yankees opened their season with the brewers on Thursday.
At Peraza and Reyes, the Yankees currently have right-handed bats on the bench for their left-handed lineup.
Reyes gained spots in aggressively strong camps. There, he also demonstrated his defensive versatility while bouncing between the outfield spots in the third base, 2 base, and corner.
Peraza, meanwhile, is out of the minor league option and now tries to stick as a backup infielder with smooth gloves, but at least not in his small number of big league opportunities.
The Yankees were looking for a right-handed bat late in camp. I kept players on tabs who cut or opted out of minor league deals elsewhere, but haven't scooped them up yet.
That said, they were still able to do so within the days of buying up Jake Cousins after last season's opening series.
In the final two spots in the bullpen, Gomez and Headrick provide Yankees length and are built to throw in at least 30-40 pitch range.
Even a minor league option, Gomez had a powerful camp with speed marked as he converted into a full-time relief role.

Headrick is the Yankees' third left-hander in the bullpen, along with Tim Hill and recently signed Ryan Yarbra.
