Yankees’ Scott Effross ‘needs some time’ to recover from new injury

Clearwater, Fla. — After Scott Efross did something he returned from back surgery with Tommy John, he now bumped into again.

Tests revealed that the Yankees' bailout suffered Grade 2 hamstring tension on the first only pitch of his outing against the twins on Tuesday.

“He needs a while,” coach Aaron Boone said Thursday before the Yankees faced the Phillies at Baycare Ballpark.

Effross had scheduled a PRP injection on Thursday to assist with the healing process, but Grade 2 strains usually take weeks to return.

“I think he's pretty upset about it. “But at the end of the day, it's a hamstring. We'll get through it. He should be able to carry on his arm to some extent, and I hope he hasn't turned him too far in the long run.”

Efros was popular to request Yankees bullpen spots. His stuff looked much more vivid early in camp than last season.

The 31-year-old side armor, bought by the Cubs at the 2022 trade deadline, has only pitched in the Yankees' 16 games due to his various injuries.
