Fan Incident at Yankees Game Involves Guerrero Jerseys
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has consistently posed a challenge for the New York Yankees, particularly during the postseason. The Toronto Blue Jays star elevated his game by batting .529 in the American League Division Series against their AL East rivals.
However, during a recent game on Wednesday, which had the Yankees facing elimination, a disturbing incident occurred. A fan was recorded tossing cans at a group of spectators, some of whom sported Guerrero jerseys.
Footage showed individuals shouting at those sitting in the back before the cans were thrown. Eventually, after a brief altercation, it seemed the tension subsided before it escalated further.
Hector Gomez, a veteran baseball writer, noted that Guerrero’s family was part of the group targeted in the incident.
In a separate post, Gomez claimed that someone from the crowd hurled a plastic bottle at Guerrero’s family, highlighting the aggressive atmosphere.
Guerrero has previously mentioned that personal reasons would prevent him from playing for the Yankees. Interestingly enough, the Yankees had once tried to sign his father, a Hall of Famer, prior to the 2004 season but ended up acquiring Gary Sheffield instead.
As it stands, the Blue Jays are poised to meet the victor of the fifth game between the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners for Game 1 of the AL Championship Series on Sunday, marking a significant moment in their postseason journey.
