Jaxel Lendeborg’s Bold Take After NBA Summer League Triumph

After leading the Golden State Warriors to victory in the NBA Summer League Championship, Jaxel Lendeborg, the No. 11 pick in the NBA Draft, didn’t hold back in assessing his competitors.

During the postgame press conference, Lendeborg was critical of the Memphis Grizzlies, suggesting they weren’t quite up to par. “Their butts got tight, you know? Some players really handle the pressure, while others just can’t,” he remarked.

Remarkably, Lendeborg helped the Warriors erase a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter, earning the MVP title in the championship game. The final score was a decisive 94-40 against the Grizzlies.

The former Michigan player lit up the score sheet with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals, including nine points in the final quarter to turn the game around. He outperformed Cameron Boozer from Memphis, who had 19 points, along with eight rebounds and four assists.

Reflecting on the championship, Lendeborg expressed pride in the achievement, saying, “This is a great start for the Warriors.” His history in high-pressure situations is notable, having scored 13 points in a national championship victory for Michigan despite limping due to an injury at the time.

The MVP award from Sunday adds to Lendeborg’s collection of accolades, as he was also named the Big Ten Player of the Year last season.

While Lendeborg has yet to step onto an official NBA court, his recent performance makes it clear that he could be crucial to the Warriors’ plans for the upcoming season.
