‘Yellowstone’ fans react to John Dutton’s death

'Yellowstone' fans are outraged by the show's response to Kevin Costner's exit from the Season 5 Part 2 premiere.

A few minutes into the episode, John Dutton, played by Costner, is found dead from a gunshot wound. It was initially thought that he committed suicide.

However, it is later revealed that John was actually murdered in a plot orchestrated by lawyer Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), who was in bed with Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley).

Costner confirmed he was leaving the show before the second half of season five, but fans were still shocked by his beloved character's exit.

Viewers took to social media to slam Paramount Network's Cowboy series and creator Taylor Sheridan over the shocking decision.

Other viewers pointed the blame at Costner, 69, who left the show midway through its final season.

“Kevin Costner ruined what was supposed to be the perfect ending to this show with a trilogy of crappy movies that failed,” he said, adding that Costner's current focus is on Horizon. Someone wrote about the series.

In May 2023, news broke that Costner would not be returning to Yellowstone after Season 5, Part 1.

That same month, it was announced that the show would end after season 5, sparking speculation that the show would end in part due to Costner's departure.

Sheridan, 54, suggested that Costner chose “Horizon” over “Yellowstone,” but Costner told a different story.

In May 2024, the Oscar winner told Deadline that “Yellowstone” was “number one” on his list of priorities. “I didn't do 'Horizon' because I got tired of doing 'Yellowstone.' That's bullshit. I didn't make 'Horizon' to compete with 'Yellowstone.' this [project] “It's something I've had for a long time,” he said.

Costner has officially confirmed that he will be leaving the show in June 2024.

“I'm thinking about Yellowstone. That series that I love, that you love, and I just realized that I can't continue it beyond Season 5 and beyond,” the Hidden Figures star said. Ta. instagram videos.

Some of the cast members reacted to Costner's departure ahead of the season 5 part 2 premiere.

“He's such an important part of this show. I feel so lucky to be able to work with him,” Bentley, 46, told the Post.

Luke Grimes, who plays Casey Dutton, told the Post: You know, he's John Dutton. He is the head of the family. He's a movie star on our set…so, of course, when he's gone, things change. ”

“But art imitates life, and you can feel that in the story,” Grimes, 40, added. “Instead, I think you use that weight to make it very compelling for the story.”
