In a segment of an interview that aired on CNN's “The Situation Room” on Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris, a 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, said she would appoint Republicans to her Cabinet.
“You had a lot of Republican speakers at the convention. Are you planning on appointing Republicans to your Cabinet?” CNN host and chief political correspondent Dana Bash asked.
Harris responded, “Yes, I would.”
Bash continued, “Do you have anyone in mind?”
“I don't have anyone in particular in mind,” Harris said.
Harris added, “We've got 68 days until the election, so it's not like I'm putting the cart before the horse, but I will do it. I think it's really important. I've worked throughout my career to advocate for diversity of opinion. I think it's important that when the most important decisions are being made, people with different views and experiences are at the table. And I think it's beneficial for the American people to have Republicans in the Cabinet.”
