Dodgers Excel with Yamamoto’s Addition
The Los Angeles Dodgers made a significant decision by signing Yoshinobu Yamamoto ahead of the 2024 season, which adds substantial strength to their pitching rotation for the playoffs.
This strategic move has already been fruitful, showing positive results over the past two seasons.
Yamamoto was instrumental in securing three victories during the World Series, including a pivotal win in Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays. In that critical match, he found himself in a challenging position during the bottom of the 9th inning but managed to push through.
He pitched 2.2 innings, allowing just one hit and one walk, ultimately contributing to a game-ending double play in the 11th inning, leading the Dodgers to a narrow 5-4 victory.
His stellar performance earned him the title of World Series MVP.
Dodgers Capture Consecutive Championships
Yamamoto’s success in Game 7 showcased his resilience, as he faced difficult moments but still delivered for his team. After the game, he shared his feelings, saying he wasn’t sure he would get the chance to pitch that night but was grateful he did.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed his excitement, proclaiming, “Yamamoto is a goat,” implying he’s a game-changer.
Prior to his standout Game 7, Yamamoto had performed well in Game 6, pitching six innings where he struck out six batters with only one run allowed, throwing a total of 96 pitches. He also made an impact in Game 2 of the series with a complete game, giving up just four hits, one run, and achieving eight strikeouts.
This impressive performance has propelled the Dodgers to become the first MLB team to win back-to-back championships since the New York Yankees did so in 1999 and 2000.
