This is quite the unusual collectible.

Boxer shorts that were worn and signed by Willie Mays are now up for auction at the Lelands Summer Classic Auction. It’s definitely something to talk about if you add it to your collection.

The auction is set for August 16th, and as of Saturday afternoon, the top bid stands at $125 for these legendary boxer shorts.

“Maze wore a baseball cap that didn’t quite fit, causing it to fly off dramatically while he chased fly balls and dashed between bases. There’s no evidence suggesting he’s too small for his underwear,” the auction description mentions.

The shorts feature a “Hane” tag on the waistband, showing that they are a size 30/32—quite slim for someone known for hitting powerfully. They are labeled “100% cotton” and have pouch fries, whatever that means.

Each leg of the shorts measures 12 inches from the waistband to the bottom. The elastic features “24 Maze 24” on the front, while the back simply shows 24. They seem lighter than typical boxer shorts.

After his passing last summer, Mays is remembered as one of the greatest baseball players ever, having won two MVP awards while playing for the Giants—both in New York and San Francisco—before wrapping up his career with the Mets in 1973.

This is definitely a unique way to acquire a signed item if you think jerseys or baseballs are a bit pricey.

But, uh, just be careful not to accidentally wash them.

“Remember, this isn’t just any pair of underwear. It’s Willie Mays’ underwear,” the description adds. “If you’re searching for a one-of-a-kind piece for your sports collection, this is something your friends probably don’t own, and it’s bound to spark interesting conversations at parties!”
