‘You Come at the King, You Best Not Miss’

Rapper and entertainment mogul 50 Cent posted an image to his Instagram account reading, “Take on the king, make sure you don’t miss” in response to Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

“If you challenge a king, don’t fail,” 50 Cent said in an Instagram post, paraphrasing a sentiment taken from Niccolo Machiavelli’s The Prince.

Meanwhile, in X, the rapper shared a photo of President Trump with a bloodied face following the assassination attempt, writing, “I know the vibe ‍♂️ We’re all in a rough spot right now!”

The photo includes a clip from 50 Cent’s 2003 song “Many Men (Wish Death),” which includes the lyrics, “Many men wishing me death, blood from the eyes, dogs, and I can’t see, I’m trying to be what I’m destined to be, and the knickers are trying to take my life.”

Breitbart News reported that President Trump was shot while speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, with at least one bullet apparently striking the 45th president in the ear, injuring him and forcing him off the stage by the U.S. Secret Service.

Social media was flooded with images and videos showing the horrifying scene, with Trump’s face appearing to be bloodied.

Secret Service veteran Dan Bongino told X in an interview after the assassination attempt, “There’s no question that USSS Director Kim Cheatle repeatedly refused requests to increase security around President Trump, despite knowing the threat level was catastrophic.”

Bongino called on Cheatle to resign.

Notably, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Mississippi), who was the leader of then-Speaker Rep. Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) now-disbanded January 6th Select Committee, introduced a bill in April 2024 targeting President Trump and stripping him of Secret Service protection if he was convicted.
