'You Don't Realize What You Have Set in Motion': Erika Kirk Speaks to Supporters for the First Time After Kirk’s Death

Erika Kirk Speaks Out After Husband’s Assassination

Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, addressed supporters for the first time since her husband’s tragic death. She emphasized that her late husband “never surrenders.”

Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot on Wednesday while he was engaging with students at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. In her first public remarks following the incident, Erika expressed gratitude to those who rallied around her and Charlie, including President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.

“I honestly don’t really know what to make of all this. I trust that God has a plan, even if I don’t fully understand it. Our world is filled with darkness, but our faith remains strong. The outpouring of love for my husband has been incredible. He inspired so many to deepen their faith and build families,” she said, her voice reflecting a mix of sorrow and resilience.

Erika added, “The individuals behind this assassination don’t realize the magnitude of their actions. They took Charlie away for championing patriotism and faith. If you thought my husband’s mission was impactful, you have yet to see the flame it has sparked.”

Charlie, a regular presence on university campuses discussing political views, was speaking to students when the shooting occurred. Just minutes after his remarks, gunfire erupted in the crowd.

Security personnel swiftly transported him to the hospital, where initial reports indicated he was in stable condition. Sadly, he later passed away due to his wounds.

After a brief manhunt, authorities arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, identified as Kirk’s shooter, after a family friend tipped them off.

Officials revealed that the bullet casing found at the scene bore phrases including “Hey fascist! Catch!” and “If you read this, you’re a gay lmao.” There was also a reference to “Bella Ciao,” associated with leftist movements during World War II.

Despite the tragedy, Erika reaffirmed her commitment to Charlie’s mission, stating it would only grow stronger. “We will never surrender. Our campus events will expand in the coming years, and our American fest in Phoenix will reach new heights. Even amidst confusion and doubt, my husband’s voice will resonate louder than ever.

She fondly recalled Charlie’s favorite word was “earn,” emphasizing his belief in the young people’s potential to shape America’s future. “To all those inspired by my husband’s faith and hard work, I know what Charlie would want from you,” Erika added.

She encouraged supporters to remain active on campuses, participate in TPUSA events, and engage with their faith communities. “Our struggle isn’t just political—it’s also spiritual,” she highlighted.

Reflecting on a personal moment, Erika shared how her daughter innocently inquired about her father’s whereabouts, to which she responded, “He’s working with Jesus.” She extended her thanks to the supporters, saying, “God bless you all, and God bless America.”

Following Charlie Kirk’s death, a mix of supporters and political figures have expressed condolences, while some critics have shown a lack of empathy. Vance shared memories of their friendship online, while Trump expressed his sorrow, noting that “no one understood the youth of America like Charlie.” He also announced plans to award Kirk the Presidential Freedom Medal posthumously.

“Charlie embodied the spirit of his generation, standing for freedom and inspiring millions. Our prayers are with Erika and their family. His courage has left a lasting impact on many, especially the youth,” Trump stated.
