Reunion of “Young Guns” Cast Nearly 40 Years Later
Recently, a group of prominent actors from the 1980s resurfaced together for a photo, almost four decades after the release of their film “Young Guns.” Dermot Mulroney shared a joint Instagram post with Emilio Estèvez, both of whom starred in the 1988 movie. The caption humorously noted, “38 years later #youngguns rides again – PALS.”
This group selfie featured not just Mulroney and Estèvez, but also included Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Casey Siemaszko, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Terry O’Quinn. They all gathered at a fan event in Dallas, Texas, over the weekend.
Fans quickly took to the comments section of the post, marveling at how the actors seem to defy aging. One comment read, “Does Emilio Estevez ever age? He has the secret to the fountain of youth,” while others echoed this sentiment. Another user enthusiastically proclaimed, “If that isn’t the most epic reunion I don’t know what is!!!!😍”
Mulroney also posted additional photos from the event, sharing a light-hearted comment recalling that when Sutherland says he “never had more fun on a movie,” it certainly means something. He cleverly referenced the film with the hashtag “#didyouseethesizeofthatchicken.” In the last image of the series, the cast humorously posed, flipping off the camera while grinning.
“Young Guns” intricately portrays Billy the Kid, played by Estèvez, along with a group of young outlaws avenging their mentor’s murder. This pursuit leads them into a world filled with violence, betrayal, and the notorious Lincoln County War.
Following the original’s success, the sequel, “Young Guns II,” was released in 1990, which continued the story with new faces like Christian Slater and Alan Ruck. This sequel became widely known for its hit theme song, “Blaze of Glory,” penned and performed by Jon Bon Jovi, solidifying its place in pop culture history.
