Young mother dies in Maryland car accident with stolen vehicle and four teenagers

Authorities report that four juveniles are in custody following a tragic incident where a young mother was killed in a crash in Maryland.

The stolen vehicle was initially spotted Tuesday afternoon by an officer. According to a press release, authorities pursued the car from a distance, intending to avoid alarming other drivers while they awaited assistance from the Prince George County Police Department helicopter unit.

Eventually, the on-duty commander ordered officers to step back from tracking the vehicle further. Upon their return to the city, officers came across a collision involving the stolen car and another vehicle at the intersection of Sheriff Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Highway.

The victim, identified as a 30-year-old woman, was reported by local media. Eyewitnesses noted that among those in the car were children aged between four and eight.

Police stated that one child sustained a life-threatening injury. The group of teenagers inside the stolen vehicle included four boys, three of whom suffered injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

At a press conference held at the crash scene, police indicated that the juvenile suspects were aged 15 to 17. Chief Cedric Hayward emphasized the importance of community and parental accountability for young people.

The investigation into the crash’s circumstances is ongoing.
