Tragic Death of Young Motocross Talent Aidan Zingg
Aidan Zingg, a talented 16-year-old motocross rider, tragically lost his life on Saturday following a crash during the Mammoth Mountain MX event in California.
Hailing from Hemet, California, Zingg was participating in an invitation race when he fell during a turn on June 28th. Reports indicate that he was struck by multiple bikes and lay unconscious on the track for two laps.
His injuries were later confirmed to be fatal.
Zingg was a proud member of Team Green and had recently transitioned to professional racing, supported by sponsorships from brands like Oakley, Bell, and Renthal. In 2024, he claimed the AMA Amateur National Championship in the Super Mini 2 class and secured a second-place finish in the Super Mini 1.
Since 2019, he had been a regular competitor at the AMA Amateur National Championship, known for its prestigious Loretta Lynn’s ranch, and was set to advance to the 250cc rank in 2025.
Veteran rider Kriski Fur expressed his condolences on social media, stating, “A heavy day at Mammoth Mountain MX. Keep the Zingg family in your thoughts and prayers.”
“With a heavy heart, we acknowledge the loss of young Aidan Zingg,” added Racer X on Facebook. “Please remember the entire Zingg family in your prayers. Godspeed, Aidan Zingg 2009-2025.”
Donn Maeda from Swapmoto also reflected on Zingg’s passing. He recalled interviewing him years ago at age 65 and how Zingg confidently remarked that he would soon outpace his father on the track. “He had a bright future ahead and many unforgettable moments,” Maeda shared.
In just the past year, Zingg stood out in major amateur competitions, solidifying his place among the sport’s promising young athletes.
