Reports indicate that a growing number of young people in the United States and other Western nations are turning to Christianity.
The resurgence seems to be led by Generation Z. This group of young men is attending weekly religious services more often than millennials and some Gen X-ers, according to a report by Axios citing Ryan Barge, a political scientist at Eastern Illinois University.
“Among older generations, there’s a noticeable gender disparity in religious participation, with women generally more engaged than men. However, in Gen Z, this gap appears to be narrowing as young men become more involved in church, while young women are attending less,” Barge notes.
He further explains:
The percentage of men who have never attended a religious service peaked among those born around 1980, with about 36% from that era never participating. This figure, however, has started to decline significantly. Currently, only 32% of the youngest adult men in the sample have never attended, which is four points lower than middle-aged men and about two points below younger women.
By this measure, young men seem to be more religious than their female counterparts.
Additionally, a recent Pew survey reported by Breitbart News in February suggests that the longstanding decline in Christianity in America may be stabilizing.
A report from the Wall Street Journal in December noted a 22% increase in Bible sales across the United States.
Influencer Cely Vasquez shared with the newspaper her recent purchase of a Bible, stating, “I had the one my mother gave me, but I felt I needed to embark on my own journey. It represented my new walk with God. With everything happening in the world, I felt something was missing—anxiety and that sense of comfort only found in the Bible,” she said.
In recent years, numerous individuals have participated in Christian revival and baptism events throughout the country.
Accompanying this uptick in interest, Angel Studio’s animated film King of Kings gained attention as creator Dallas Jenkins released highly popular installments of the series I Was Chosen in April, according to Breitbart News.
