Youngkin dismisses speculation of 2024 presidential run, says he’s focused on Virginia’s elections

Virginia Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin said Tuesday that he appreciates continued speculation that he might be a late entrant into the 2024 Republican presidential primary, but that Republicans won the U.S. House race. He said he remains focused on helping people do so.

In an interview at the Washington Economic Club in Washington, D.C., Youngkin spoke to historian, businessman, and philanthropist David Rubenstein about his presidential ambitions, the 15-week abortion ban, parents’ school bankruptcies, and Washington Cmdr. He spoke about his position on matters such as being taken to Virginia and his parents’ bankruptcy. There are also other hot topics, according to Fox 5 DC.

When asked about the “elephant in the room” – the possibility of Yonkin launching a White House campaign, the governor said he was “humbled” by continued speculation about his possible presidential bid. However, he stated that he intends to continue campaigning. We will focus solely on the state elections that determine party control of the Virginia General Assembly.

“It’s really exciting to see that there are people not just in Virginia, but outside of Virginia, across the United States and around the world who are genuinely excited about what we’re doing in Virginia. “There are,” Youngkin said.

The governor also addressed the possibility of a new Commanders NFL stadium being built in Virginia, saying he believes the commonwealth is still working on building a new Commanders stadium.

The House Oversight Committee voted last week to turn RFK Stadium over to Washington, D.C., to lead redevelopment efforts. But Youngkin said Virginia will remain undaunted and continue its pursuit of a professional football team.

“My job as governor is to represent the taxpayers, and if I can represent the taxpayers, that’s a negotiation I look forward to,” Yonkin said. “I definitely want to be an active participant in any opportunity our commanders have to come to Virginia.”

Yonkin dodged a question about whether he would participate in the 2024 presidential election as former President Trump’s running mate if offered, but the governor referred to President Biden’s record as commander-in-chief, saying that Biden questioned his abilities. Rebuild the economy and handle the president’s schedule.

Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who attended the first Republican debate in August, did not meet the high standards of the second debate.

Trump, who met the required donation and polling thresholds, did not sign the Republican National Committee pledge required to participate in the debate.
