“As your pre-teen children grow, their interests will broaden,” reads new guidelines published by the social media site just in time for the new school year.

“YouTube's new supervision options will help parents have open conversations with their teens as they create and share content on YouTube for the first time,” the directive reads.

For teens, parents can now set filters to limit viewing to age-appropriate content.

Young children can also watch videos through a separate app called YouTube Kids, a new offering that promises a “safer and simpler experience.”

It also allows parents to regulate viewing habits even when they're not literally watching over their shoulder.

For kids ages 13-17, you can set hourly “break” notifications along with a 10pm bedtime reminder.

Parents can also utilize the autoplay kill switch to prevent their kids from getting stuck in an endless video loop.

People under the age of 17 will have more difficulty accessing so-called “problematic” content, including videos that “depict social offense or intimidation.”

The news was reported by Nielsen: YouTube beat Disney In July, we were the top media distributor in terms of volume.
