YouTube TV 14 Percent Price Hike Leads to Fury from Subscribers

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will leave office in just over a month, but their disastrous economic policies that led to soaring consumer prices are still being felt by ordinary Americans, especially in the realm of streaming entertainment. It is being

YouTube TV is increasing its prices by 13.7%, with subscription fees increasing $10 from $72.99 per month to $82.99. The price hike has infuriated many longtime subscribers, some of whom remember when the live TV streaming service was just $35 a month a decade ago.

YouTube TV, which is owned by Google, announced Thursday that the price increase will be effective immediately for new customers and will apply to “most existing customers” starting January 13. The service claimed that the price increase was due to “increased content costs and investments in service quality.”

This price increase is the latest example of streaming inflation, or the rising prices of streaming entertainment services that we've seen over the past four years. Streamers like Disney+ and Netflix are jacking up prices across the board, in some cases by as much as 25%.

Streamers are also rolling out ad-supported slots that cost the same as their former commercial-free services, which some are calling the streaming equivalent of shrinkflation.

YouTube TV's price increase has infuriated many subscribers, with some pointing out that the new price makes it less affordable than traditional cable TV.

“Cut all the cords you need to access these apps and you'll just get your cable bill back,” one dissatisfied customer wrote.

It's the most questionable move ever made. Fuck YouTube,” another person wrote.

Another customer wrote, “Maybe I should go back to cable TV.”

“Don't think it's worth it anymore,” yet another wrote.
