A YouTube star known for his voracious “mukbang” eating videos claims to have lost 250 pounds, but at the same time has led millions of fans to believe he's still dangerously overweight.
Nikocado Avocado, who has more than 4 million subscribers on YouTube where he posts videos of himself and others overeating, posted a video on Friday titled ” “Two steps ahead.”
The video also included a rant in which he called his followers “ants” and mocked them for watching his videos and commenting on their body shapes, despite the fact that he was overweight.
Nikocado Avocado called the stunt “the biggest social experiment” and pulled it off by hiding from his videos for months and only posting old videos he recorded before he lost the weight.
The content creator, whose real name is Nicholas Perry, revealed the dramatic transformation three months after telling fans he was “pausing his weight loss journey” and taking a hiatus.
“Two steps ahead, two steps ahead,” Nikocado Avocado begins the video while wearing a panda head mask.
“This has been the biggest social experiment of my life. It's been disturbing, compelling and riveting to watch unwell and disoriented people scouring the internet in search of stories, ideas and rivalries that will inspire and engage them,” he continued.
Nikocado Avocado said he felt interacting with fans during his seven-year career making mukbang videos was like “watching ants in an ant colony.” He said he learned that people eat “whatever they're told to eat.”
Perry then removed her mask, revealing her transformation after losing weight.
“I'm the bad guy because I made myself the bad guy. And you're going to continue to consume these stories about me, for as long as I'm on the internet saying I'm the bad guy, for years and years. The stories permeate and they linger and they corrode the minds of the ants. They affect the ants. They brainwash the ants,” he said, before directly addressing his audience: “You are the ants.”
The YouTuber continued, “Today I woke up from a very long dream, and I woke up 250 pounds lighter. But until yesterday, people were calling me fat, sick, boring, irrelevant. Humans are the most messed up creatures on earth.”
In another video uploaded to a different channel run by Perry, she explained that she had been posting years-old content to keep the channel afloat while trying to manage her health.
But Perry wasted no time in entertaining viewers and quickly went back to her roots, pulling out a big plate of noodles and slurping them down.
While many fans were surprised by his shocking transformation, most were happy that the author is in good health, with one person writing: “Let's be realistic, this is what we would have preferred rather than him dying from complications from his excessive weight.”
Another fan wrote: “It just doesn't seem real. He plays us like violins. This redemption story seems unreal.”
“He gained weight, became a billionaire, then lost the weight and made the greatest comeback of all time,” added another.
