YouTubeTV may cut ties with Fox due to a disagreement.

YouTube TV has issued a warning that if an agreement isn’t reached with Fox in the coming days, subscribers may soon lose access to channels like Fox News, Fox Sports, and the Fox Broadcast Network.

In a message to its subscribers on Monday, the Google-owned service informed customers whose contracts with Fox are nearing renewal that they are actively negotiating to keep providing news, sports, and entertainment from the media giant.

“We’re focused on achieving equitable agreements for all involved, including our subscribers,” the note read. “We want to keep you informed about these discussions. If we’re unable to come to terms with Fox by August 27, 2025, that content might not be accessible anymore. This would impact channels such as Fox News, Fox Sports, the Fox Broadcast Network, and the library recordings we offer from these channels.”

YouTube TV stated that if an agreement isn’t reached, they will provide subscribers with a $10 credit if Fox content becomes “unavailable for an extended period.”

In a statement to The Hill on Tuesday, Fox expressed its commitment to reaching a fair deal with YouTube TV. “We’re disappointed that Google continues to use its considerable power to propose off-market terms,” the company said. “We’re alerting Fox viewers who are YouTube TV subscribers that if Google doesn’t get involved meaningfully soon, we might lose access to many of our favorite news, sports, entertainment, and local station programming.”

This situation arises just two weeks before the start of the college football season, during which one NFL game will be broadcast on the Rupert Murdoch-owned network.

YouTube TV has reportedly become a significant alternative for about 10 million subscribers, especially for those moving away from traditional cable in favor of streaming services.

Fox, along with other traditional media, launched its own streaming platform called “Fox One” earlier this summer as an alternative for viewers should YouTube TV and Fox fail to reach an agreement.

The standard YouTube TV subscription costs more than $80 each month, providing access to most major broadcast and cable networks, while the Fox One subscription is currently priced at $19.99 per month.
