Lawson won the spot last winter alongside Max Verstappen. The team decided to say goodbye to Sergio Perez after the 2024 campaign. Despite starting the season, Hot Perez scored just 49 points over the weekend of the first six races, while Red Bull finished third in the Constructors Championship.
Lawson has not made progress since the first quarter in either the Australian Grand Prix or the China Grand Prix, and has competed in the P20s in both the Shanghai Formula 1 sprint race and the China Grand Prix. After his difficult weekend at the Chinese Grand Prix, speculation has risen that Red Bull would make such a move.
Team principal Christian Horner put these rumbles aside as Padoc's speculation, and now it appears the speculation has come to fruition.
