Zach Wilson banished to third string for Jets against Dolphins

Zach Wilson will not only sit on the bench this week when the Jets play the Miami Dolphins, but he will also be demoted to the third team.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh confirmed Tim Boyle would start during the Jets’ Black Friday game on Friday, but later told reporters that Trevor Siemian would serve as Wilson’s backup. Ta.

It’s a big letdown for Wilson, who has had a tumultuous time as the Jets’ quarterback since the Jets drafted him No. 2 overall in 2021.

There are also serious questions once again about Wilson’s place with the franchise going forward.

Saleh didn’t soften them up one bit when he spoke Monday afternoon, a day after the Jets’ 32-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

“We’re going to deal with it in the offseason. It’s really a Miami issue right now,” Saleh said.

It was first reported Monday morning that Wilson, who was benched in Sunday’s loss, would be filling in as the starter this week.

He completed seven passes for 81 yards, a touchdown and an interception against Buffalo before being replaced by Boyle in the third quarter.
