Draft grades will be announced this weekend after players join the team for a few hours.
Of course, these are ridiculous.
All you have to do is look at past opinions and see how wrong those initial opinions were.
Coaches and general managers will tell you that to truly evaluate a player, you need to look at what that player did in his first three years.
That’s why we want to take a look back at the Jets’ 2021 draft class and see how Joe Douglas fared in his second draft.
The results are not very good.
The Jets entered that draft with two first-round picks thanks to the Seahawks trade for Jamal Adams.
They had the No. 2 overall pick after going 2-14 in 2020.
It was Robert Saleh’s first draft when he was the Jets’ coach, and the roster needed a lot of help.
Most of the attention was on the No. 2 pick, with the Jets expected to take quarterback Zach Wilson from BYU, which they did.
Douglas ultimately drafted 10 players in 2021.
Only four of them remain on the roster.
Let’s take a look back at the 2021 class’s play so far individually.
Zach Wilson, QB, BYU (Round 1)
The Jets wrapped up their Wilson acquisition streak this week by trading Wilson to the Broncos along with a seventh-round pick in exchange for a sixth-round pick.
This pick may be the worst in franchise history. At least in conversation.
Wilson was a starter for most of his three years here, with few memorable games.
He threw 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions.
Additionally, he was unpopular in the locker room and made a high-profile mistake in 2022, not showing responsibility after a loss to New England, effectively ending his role as a starter.

Aliyah Bella Tucker, OL, University of Southern California (Round 1)
Vera-Tucker has shown great ability when healthy, but he has suffered season-ending injuries each of the last two seasons.
Vera Tucker’s greatest characteristic is her versatility.
He has started games at both the tackle and guard spots in three seasons.
The Jets are expected to pick up his fifth-year option, and Vera-Tucker is expected to remain at right guard this season.
Elijah Moore, WR, Mississippi State (Round 2)
Moore showed a lot of potential as a rookie (43 catches, 538 yards, 5 TDs), but was not valued by the coaching staff in 2022.
Moore clashed with then-offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur and requested a trade.
The Jets kept him around that season, but he only scored one touchdown.
Moore was traded to the Browns last March.
He had only two touchdowns in Cleveland, but set career highs in catches (59) and yards (640).
Michael Carter, RB, NC State (Round 4)
The other player looked good as a rookie (147 rushes, 649 yards, 4 TDs) but then stalled.
The Jets drafted Breece Hall in 2022, making him their primary running back.
When Hall was lost to injury, the Jets traded him for James Robinson rather than give Carter the bulk of the carries. It showed a lack of trust in him.
That continued last year with the signing of Dalvin Cook.
Finally, the Jets released Carter in November, and the Cardinals acquired him.
Jamian Sherwood, LB, Auburn (Round 5)
Sherwood has primarily been a special teams player for the Jets. He has seen minimal playing time as a linebacker.
Michael Carter II, CB, Duke (Round 5)
Considering Vera-Tucker’s injury issues, Carter might be the best pick in this draft.
Carter became a very consistent nickel corner and made a number of big plays for the Jets.
Jason Pinnock, S, Pittsburgh (Round 5)
Pinnock never got a chance with the Jets, but became the Giants’ starter after the team released him before the 2022 season.
Pinnock had two interceptions and returned one for a touchdown last season with Big Blue.
Hamsa Nasiruddin, LB, Florida State (Round 6)
Nasiruddin did little in his first two seasons and was fired before last season.
He’s out of the league.
Brandin Echols, CB, Kentucky (Round 6)
Echols started as a rookie and intercepted Tom Brady, but has been relegated to reserve duty the past two years. Echols is an excellent special teams player and backup cornerback.
Jonathan Marshall, DT, Arkansas (Round 6)
Marshall played in just four games as a rookie and was released before his second season.
He currently plays for the Steelers, but has not played in a game since 2021.
