Zach Wilson’s mom celebrates QB’s ‘fresh start’ with Broncos

The only person more excited about Zach Wilson’s trade to the Broncos than the QB himself may be his mother, Lisa Wilson.

The former Jets quarterback was traded on Monday, less than two months after general manager Joe Douglas told reporters he had given Wilson permission to seek a trade.

Lisa shared several posts on her Instagram Story in response to the news, including one where she shared a Photoshopped image of Wilson in a Broncos jersey.

“Excited for a fresh start. Let’s go!” Lisa captioned the post with a blue and orange heart emoji.

In another post, Lisa shared that she was having lunch “before my son heads to Denver.”

The soccer mom and social media influencer later shared a video from her parents’ home in Utah. There were orange and blue balloons outside the house, and two new Broncos flags hung on a lamppost at the front end of the property.

“Surround yourself with people. [that] I love you, support you and wish you success,” she wrote alongside the video.

Monday’s trade marks a fresh start for both sides. The Jets could move away from trying to develop Wilson into the quarterback of the future, and Wilson could get a chance to develop in another organization after things didn’t work out in New York.

In games in which the former 2021 No. 2 pick started, the Jets were 12-21.

During his time with the Jets, Wilson caught 566 passes for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions, and rushed for 498 yards and five touchdowns.

Wilson was sent to Denver along with a seventh-round pick in exchange for a sixth-round pick.
