Zach Wilson’s mom, Lisa, responds to backlash over ‘affair’ post

Zach Wilson’s mother found herself on the defensive after an Instagram user didn’t seem thrilled about a recent “infidelity” comment.

Lisa Wilson shared a video of herself at the gym with her husband Mike on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, the same day Jets GM Joe Douglas announced he was given permission to ask the quarterback for a trade, and the two joked that he was having an affair.

“I’m having an affair with a handsome guy from the gym who also happens to be my husband,” Lisa wrote, along with a winking face emoji.

In another post, Lisa shared a screenshot of a DM she received from someone that read: “Infidelity is not something to be taken lightly. In fact. It’s not fun. They destroy families and children’s lives.”

Lisa, who has 157,000 followers on Instagram, often shares advice for women balancing marriage and family, but explained that was not her intention.

“Um… I don’t think you were teasing me,” she replied. “We weren’t good. We were tired and out of touch. So I thought about why people have affairs. So I did all the same things to get the spark back.” We did it. Flirting, sexy texts. And it worked. I’m trying to encourage you to find that fire with your man.”

Lisa also wrote a note above the screenshot, saying in part that she was “just a mom and wife trying to help women live their best lives.”

“I’m not for everyone, and that’s okay. I’m just a mom and wife trying to help women live their best lives. It’s about sharing what works for me.” she wrote.

The Utah native then shared a photo of her and Mike from their wedding day, further explaining her post.

“If it’s your first time here…this guy is the hot guy from the gym…he’s also the father of my 6 kids and we’ll have been married 27 years next Friday,” Lisa wrote. .

This isn’t the first time Lisa, who shot to fame after the Jets selected Wilson, 24, with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has made negative comments on social media.

The proud mother has previously shut down Instagram trolls who questioned her parenting style.

Lisa had not yet addressed the latest news surrounding Wilson’s NFL future as of Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, Jets general manager Joe Douglas said Wilson had been given permission to seek a trade, confirming an earlier report by The Post’s Brian Costello.

This happened after the Jets finished the season with a 7-10 record and missed the playoffs.

The Jets originally planned for Wilson to grow and learn from Aaron Rodgers, who they acquired in a trade this offseason.

That plan was scuppered when Rodgers ruptured his Achilles tendon after just four snaps in the Jets’ season opener against the Bills on Sept. 11, forcing Wilson back into the starting lineup.

Jets owner Woody Johnson slammed Wilson earlier this month after another disappointing season.

“We need a backup quarterback,” Johnson said before the NFL Honors in Las Vegas. “We didn’t have anything like that last year.”

Wilson was inconsistent throughout his three-year career in New York, which included multiple stints on the bench.

He finished the 2023 season with 2,271 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions through 12 games.
