Zachary Ty Bryan, known for his role as Brad Taylor on the 1990s comedy, was arrested for the sixth time in five years over the weekend after his fiancée allegedly attempted to run him over with her car. Their three children were reportedly in the vehicle at the time.
Bryan, 44, and his fiancée, Johnny Faye Cartwright, 32, were taken into custody near a popular camping area close to Lowell, Oregon, on Saturday.
“According to authorities, Bryan and Cartwright, along with their three young kids, were driving in a pickup truck when Bryan exited the vehicle and started walking down the road,” reported by New York Post.
The sheriff’s office stated that Cartwright “attempted to strike Bryan” with the car, which ended up in a ditch after he jumped out of harm’s way. The couple’s children remained inside during the incident.
“Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but deputies observed signs of impairment from both Bryan and Cartwright during questioning,” according to authorities. “Bryan was arrested for violating a previous court order and is being held without bail, with a release scheduled for Wednesday.”
Previously, Bryan was arrested in 2020 for allegedly trying to strangle Cartwright during a dispute. He pleaded guilty in 2021 but claimed the punishment was excessive. Despite having a plea agreement to avoid contact with her, they ended up having three children together.
In October 2023, Bryan pleaded guilty to serious assault against another woman. He was arrested twice for drunk driving in 2024 and then again in 2025 for allegedly choking and hitting a woman during a domestic incident in South Carolina. The woman informed police that they “live together and share children.”
Brian separated from his ex-wife Carly Matros in 2020 after 13 years of marriage, and they have four children together.
A 2023 profile in Hollywood Reporter indicated that Bryan had accumulated significant crypto assets before facing fraud charges.
“Those who have interacted with Bryan since his arrest, which drew considerable media attention and damaged his public image, suggest this situation is part of a larger narrative involving claims of fraud, substance abuse, and a breakdown of family trust,” noted THR.
“Furthermore, four sources claimed that Bryan embezzled between $5,000 and $25,000 personally, totaling nearly $50,000, through fraudulent activities tied to a tech startup in agriculture. They suspect he did this by presenting fake contracts that were worthless,” it added.
