Zelensky Claims Putin is Losing Control of the War

In an interview with Fox News, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asserted that Russian President Vladimir Putin has lost control of the ongoing conflict between their countries. He emphasized the impact of Ukraine’s military technology on reshaping battle dynamics.

This conversation came after the funeral of the late Senator Lindsey Graham. Zelensky discussed the war with Fox News host Sean Hannity, touching upon Graham’s advocacy for Ukraine and the prospects for peace talks.

“From the start of the war, when Putin believed he could occupy us in just a couple of days, we have developed a significant defense industry,” Zelensky stated. “We now have around 500 companies producing advanced military technology.”

During the interview, he described how the strategies involved in the conflict are shifting rapidly. He noted that the war evolves roughly every few months, which means Ukraine must adapt its technology accordingly.

“The technology has to keep pace,” he remarked. “We must be quicker than Putin because he has certain advantages… we need to optimize our talent and technology.”

Zelensky highlighted how Ukraine has demonstrated its ability to target military assets deep within Russia. Hannity pointed out Ukraine’s strikes beyond Moscow and the temporary disruption of the power supply in Russian-held Crimea. Zelensky suggested that this shift has helped to tilt the momentum away from Moscow.

“Putin is losing tens of thousands of soldiers monthly,” Zelensky claimed. “Despite the losses, he is unwilling to end the war. So the likelihood remains that he’ll push forward.”

Moreover, he mentioned that Ukraine continues to seek a ceasefire, which could potentially lead to a comprehensive resolution. However, he noted that Russia shows no interest in dialogue, with the last communication taking place in 2020.

He expressed a yearning for negotiations: “Every day we call for an end to this conflict… hoping for a chance to negotiate.” Zelensky explained that he envisions a ceasefire period allowing for diplomatic discussions, although he feels Putin is resistant to this approach.

Much of their discussion centered on Senator Graham, whom Zelensky characterized as one of the earliest and most steadfast supporters of Ukraine. He noted that Graham had made numerous visits to Ukraine throughout the conflict, bringing significant attention and support.

In recent developments, Zelensky lauded a bipartisan bill, which aims to impose sanctions on those aiding Russia’s war against Ukraine, as it moved forward in the Senate with a strong vote.

Earlier during the same day, Zelensky met with Donald Trump at the White House to discuss enhancing defense collaborations, including plans for Ukraine to manufacture U.S.-designed Patriot missiles domestically.

Trump later shared on social media that the meeting went well, reinforcing the ongoing dialogue between the two nations.
