Trump says Zelenskyy can “come back when he's ready for peace” after a fiery White House exchange

Tensions rose during an oval office meeting on Friday over a potential peace deal between Russia and Ukraine after Zelensky said Russian President Vladimir Putin was unreliable and violated other agreements.

Trump and Vance later accused Zelensky of not appreciating the support the US has provided over the years, and said Ukrainian leaders were in a “bad position” at the negotiation table.

“You're playing cards,” Trump said. “You're living and gambling for millions of people. You're gambling with World War II. You're gambling with World War II. And what you're doing is very rude to this country, to this country.”

After Vance said there are personnel and military recruitment issues in Zelensky Ukraine, Zelensky said the war “everyone has problems, you, you, you, you, you, you, you,” adding that the United States will feel war “in the future.”

“Don't tell us what we're trying to feel,” Trump replied. “We're trying to solve the problem. Don't tell us what we're trying to feel.”

Zelenskyy was asked to leave the White House after the exchange. The scheduled press conference was cancelled and Ukraine left it signed as it fed the US rare earth minerals.

Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude for America's help after the meeting.

“Thank you to America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit,” he wrote to X:
