Mamdani Faces Criticism Over Anti-Semitic Allegations
New York has experienced its fair share of political strife, but Congressman Zoran Mamdani seems to have crossed moral boundaries, raising concerns about his stance on anti-Semitism.
Many believe he shouldn’t even be near City Hall.
This sentiment has grown stronger following recent news that Mamdani abstained from voting on a resolution in Albany that aimed to recognize the Holocaust and affirm support for Israel.
New York boasts one of the largest Jewish populations globally, making this situation particularly sensitive.
The resolution wasn’t exactly contentious—at least, it shouldn’t have been for anyone with even a minimal sense of morality.
In previous instances, Mamdani has supported various resolutions, such as those for Neurodiversity Pride Day, Juneteenth, Lunar New Year, Women’s History Month, and Disability Awareness Day.
His spokesperson, Andrew Epstein, claims that Mamdani supports Holocaust recognition but is looking into how many resolutions he has signed in the past.
However, critics argue that the importance of recognizing the murder of six million Jews during the Holocaust should be non-negotiable.
Mamdani has shown indifference toward Israel, as evidenced by his comments on October 8, 2023, when he condemned the nation just after a violent attack against Jews.
As a candidate for mayor, he pledged that he would arrest Israeli leaders like Benjamin Netanyahu if they entered New York.
This is reminiscent of Jamal Bowman, who downplayed reports of atrocities committed by Hamas while endorsing Mamdani.
They seemingly align in their anti-Semitic views.
Putting aside Mamdani’s wider socialist agenda, his apparent disdain for Jewish people is a significant aspect of his public persona.
It’s crucial for New Yorkers to acknowledge his troubling views on anti-Semitism and Israel.
When the time comes for the Democratic nomination vote next month, it would be wise to avoid ranking Mamdani at all.
